Bay and Bow Window Frame Options

Burke & Sons, Inc. offers several items that can be added to our bay and bow window frames to increase their performance and beauty.

Exterior Finishing Systems

Prefabricated Hip Roof System

The custom-sized, hip roof package helps insulate the top exterior of the unit and gives it a finished appearance.

Standard pitch is "7/12" with a 3" overhang (custom pitch is also available)
Base, back wall, and sheathing are constructed with 7/16" OSB (Oriented Strand Board) with 1x2 perimeter blocking and 2x2 rafters

Standing Seam Roof Cladding - Available as an add-on option to the custom hip roof package.

Prefabricated Insulated Seat Board

The custom-sized, insulated seat board package is perfect for finishing and insulating the bottom exterior of the unit.

Frame widths up to 121 1/2" (frames over 121 1/2" will be supplied with 2 pieces of vinyl laminate with vinyl "H" channel as a center divider)
10 mill vinyl laminate applied over 1/2" exterior fir plywood and 1" foam insulation
Vinyl extruded cap for coverage of edge to wall and nails for assembly are supplied.

Decorative Additions

Interior Low-Voltage Light Kit

Recessed lighting helps to make the bay and bow windows even more beautiful. Light kits come fully installed.

Light kit includes (1) 12-volt driver and (2), (3), (4), or (5) 12-volt UL® approved lights available in Black, Brass, Nickel or White finish
Plug in cord with roll switch allows for hassle-free installation (hard wiring option is also available)
LED soft white lamps offer energy efficiency & long life

Laminated Seat/Head

Available in hundreds of colors, the laminated seat and/or head eliminates the need for paint or stain.

Provides a smooth, hard surface that is unaffected by condensation - perfect for displaying plants! (Stock colors now available!)

Interior Casing and Edge Banding


Available in oak or pine, the 3 1/2" casing finishes the frame's interior perimeter.	Edge banding easily eliminates the exposed plywood edge on head and seat boards.

Support Systems

Knee Brackets

Our knee brackets not only provide added support to the bottom of the units, they also give the frames a decorative flair.

Cut from edge-glued white pine for extra strength
Five sizes available: small, medium, large, extra large, and 90 degree
All brackets are sanded and primed white - ready for finish paint

Turnbuckle Support Kit

The turnbuckle support kit helps to relieve strain on the window unit by tying into the soffit of the home or building.

Each kit includes: (1) 4' chain, (2) turnbuckles, (2) wall hooks, (2) washers, and (2) nuts
